Wild at heart… nomore

wild_at_heart_uk-showNow I don’t know about you, but I used to love watching Wild at Heart on a Sunday evening.  There was nothing better than sitting down, relaxing watching Dancing on Ice and then an episode of Wild at Heart whilst we waited for the results.

Through the various seasons, we have grown the love the characters, and even when Danny’s wife died (played by Amanda Holden) some of us thought she could never be replaced.. but lo and behold along came Dawn Steele who played Alice, his new wife.

For a while we were watching and waiting, whilst they played will they or won’t they fall in love and admit their love for each other, but in the end it was well worth the wait.  And during the last season even though we didn’t see much of Alice, due to complications of her pregnancy (in real-life) not the TV one, we all missed her.  I liked her when she stared in Sea of Souls.. now that is going back some years.  However, I was pleased to see that she had returned for the two hour special on Sunday Night..On watching the final scenes, I could really see why she said in the Sun, she was crying like a baby, she said the following:

“There’s one big emotional scene at the end and every time we did it, we cried.

“Usually when you are recording a scene, come the fourth time of asking, there are no tears left, but with this it was different.

“At the end I’m always a mess, but this time I was thinking, ‘That’s the last time I’ll do that’.

Well I too was blubbing like a baby… my god to see Dupe sitting on that rock at the end waiting to die, can even now send me in floods of tears.

Now I don’t know about you, but I am fed up with celebs going to some jungle even with Politicians now trying to get their names back in the press.. but all this reality TV is nothing compared to a series like Wild at Heart.

Just looking online and a see a petition has been created to get ITV to bring back Wild at Heart… the petitioner says:

Dear ITV,
I have made this petition because of how many people in the UK and Ireland love the Sunday night drama. I am prepared to raise money and go down to London and protest. All we ask is you bring it back and get rid of some reality show stuff.

Sincerely,
Cameron Sharp

Well we knew back in April that it was being axed.. the Daily Mail reports…

Insiders on the wildlife drama have pointed the finger at Titanic and its mammoth production cost as the sole reason the seventh series of the show will be its last.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘The feeling is that they sunk so much money into Titanic that they are having to make savings elsewhere and we are bearing the brunt of that.’

Wild At Heart proved a ratings winner with its family orientated story lines and it had an average audience of 7.5 million, which was over twice the amount of people that watched the finale of Titanic.

but there is nothing like getting the emotions to run riot and start us Brits complaining when the final episode is aired…. well let’s hope ITV have a change of mind.. after all.. we didn’t actually see Dupe die, so the story could turn around with Dupe walking back to Leopards Den and saying he doesn’t want to die alone… he could take it easy… he has a strong character and even if he sitting on the porch I am sure he could get into one mess or another… hey give him the internet… whilst he is sitting there.

And I sure hope that petition gets more than 3 signatures otherwise, we won’t be watching Wild at Heart ever again, that’s if the ITV acts on that petition and decides to relent and change their mind about axing the series.

Well here’s to ITV… for taking off a good series and filling the gaps with reality TV shows and Dramas, that will never replace the original film and the Titanic film that captivated audiences..

So I will not be extending new years wishes to ITV unless they have a change of heart and bring back Wild of Heart.
