Daily Prompt: Personal Space

Today’s Daily Prompt from WordPress is about Personal Space and they ask: To what extent is your blog a place for your own self-expression and creativity vs. a site designed to attract readers? How do you balance that? If sticking to certain topics and types of posts meant your readership would triple, would you do it?

I run two blogs on WordPress, On My Front Porch (this blog) and Ryan Photography. This blog covers I think everything that is unconnected to my Photography (except todays post about The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill  which has just passed Royal Assent in the UK Government.

And that I suppose is why I run the two blogs separately, because some people want to look at photos and discuss photos and they don’t want to wade through a load of posts, about hair brushes, which toothpaste to buy and what quotes you find inspirational.   So to a certain extent with my Ryan Photography Blog, I have stuck to one subject, the photographs we have taken.

As for this blog, well I will just ramble away, if people want to join in, which I hope they do, great.  I love reading comments and replying to them, but blogging to me is a place to write down those thoughts that run through my head, those inspirations that drive a person to success and which inspire them to go on to do better things and above all, what is generally pi$$ing me off that day.

Personally I like to read a variety of blogs, whether they be one certain topic or not.. and I hope both blogs can run in tandem and like any other blogger, when people comment on what you have to say, you are pleased to have those comments.

To know someone thinks the same as you or even disagrees with you, makes blogging worthwhile.   I blog because I want to blog… not because I have to..

So my personal space at the present time is a place that I am happy with.. and I don’t envisage any changes in the near future.
