Daily Prompt: Irresistible…

It has been quite a while since I contributed to the Daily Prompt.. I know I should put more effort in… 😀  But this prompt really did interest me.. it is called Irresistible and WordPress asks you to Tell us about the favorite dish or food that you simply cannot turn down.

Well it has to be a pudding doesn’t it?  Normally I don’t have a sweet tooth, I am more of a savoury person that desert but two puddings that I can’t resist have to be the following:

chocolate puddingChocolate Pudding.  Now who can resist that on a cold winter’s day.  I know I can’t.

And it is such a quick pudding to do, thanks to convenience foods… all you need is a chocolate sponge mix, an egg, some water and a microwave..

Mix it up in a bowl and nuke it for 3 minutes.. whilst nuking.. open a couple of Ambrosia Chocolate Custard cartons and heat up in the microwave, once pudding is done.

lemon pie

Lemon Meringue Pie. Has to be my second favourite.. I just love the sharpness of the lemon, the crunch of the meringue and how it melts in your mouth.

Again.. another good tip for those of us that don’t get on with that white object in the kitchen called a cooker.. Sarah Lee or Aunt Bessie.. have lovely pies.  And if you are feeling real adventurous… one shortcrust pastry case already cooked.. and a lemon meringue pie mix… and the hardest part of that is whipping up the meringue until it is stiff enough.. 😀

Yes I know all the good brands :D.. cos if it doesn’t come out of a packet, tin or straight from the freezer.. you don’t get it.  Me and cooking DO NOT MIX. And my family know it… I can’t be that bad at opening these convenience foods.. cos they are still here.

It was only a little while back.. the main oven element blew and we had to have it repaired.. As my wonderful husband said.. it wasn’t due to over use that’s for sure.. He reckons it died of shock when I switched it on.

So my two irresistible puddings have to be those above.. ask me which one I would choose over the other and I couldn’t answer you… they both tasty and very moreish. Sorry WordPress.. I just can’t choose.

It becomes quite a dilemma in the supermarket as to whether it will be Chocolate Pudding, Lemon Meringue or Strawberry cheesecake. 😀

I know all these dishes are making my mouth water like mad. 😀

My dad used to always pretend we were fighting over the last piece of lemon meringue pie. He always let me have it, even though it was his favorite pie.

My favorite is a graham cracker banana pudding (custard) – several layers of graham crackers, bananas, cooked vanilla and chocolate puddings – putting crackers and bananas between the vanilla and chocolate puddings. YUM 🙂

Lately, I’ve been going for a Marbled New York Style Cheesecake! Amazingly delicious taste and texture.

Oh that banana pudding sounds delicious.. trouble is I like bananas but other half doesn’t.. which I think in this case is good because I wouldn’t have to share this pudding 😀

Surprising though, how food brings back so many memories..especially those memories that you have as a child.

My Aunt would make spotted dick and custard, using my Nan’s recipe and she would wrap it in a cloth and use an old pan to steam it for hours.. it was so delicious…Sometimes she varied it by doing a plain one and would top it with golden syrup .. to make a steam treacle pudding… I have never tasted any pudding yet that would match my nan’s recipe.

  4. Thank you for the pingback, greatly appreciated! I’d be more than happy to share the recipe….
