Westminster – Stop the hatred

Yesterday I wrote a post on Facebook (but I’ve removed it this morning) saying it is time to reflect on the events in London 2 days ago.

Today is a time for reflection on what happened yesterday in London. But serious questions now have to be answered. Should all our officers be armed? And should there be faith schools? And how must social media platforms be enforced to stop the spread of hate speech and radicalisation.

I am fed up of hearing the words ‘Freedom of Speech’. Freedom of speech does not give you the right to cause harm to others, it does not give you the right to promote and praise those that harm others.

I feel like saying

‘F**k the Geneva Convention’ when fighting the likes of ISIS.  This country as seen many a war, we lived through two world wars, a Falklands war and an IRA terrorist campaign.. but never in my life have I heard such atrocities committed by a group since the holocaust of the second world war.

The Geneva Convention:

The Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of Wounded, Sick and Shipwrecked Members of Armed Forces at Sea was adopted in 1906. It was significantly revised and replaced by the Second Geneva Convention of 1949. The Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War was adopted in 1929.

ISIS don’t take prisoners, they don’t treat them under the rules of the Geneva Convention and we hear new atrocities on a daily basis.

One story that today made me feel like saying ‘F**k the Geneva Convention’ was a story I read in the Mirror from earlier this month.

Sick ISIS militants fed a desperate mum the mutilated remains of her son – after telling her it was cooked meat and rice, it was claimed today.

The son had been captured and taken prisoner by Islamic State militants in Mosul, Iraq.

The worried mum then bravely visited the terror group’s headquarters in a bid to speak to her loved one.

ISIS fighters told the mum she should eat before seeing her son because she had travelled a long way.

However, after giving the mother cooked meat, rice and soup, she was horrified to be told she had just eaten her son.

Homosexuality can result in you being thrown from a building and then your corpse is stoned.

Barbaric monsters is all that I can call these ISIS fighters.  Why should any soldier who is on the frontline fighting these monsters have a fear of being court martialled if they dare even look at a prisoner in the wrong way.  These bastards don’t fight by the Geneva Convention, so, should we?

They have no intention of fighting fair, soldiers are beheaded

The six-minute clip shows the bearded ISIS member beheading three Peshmerga soldiers in an Iraqi street.

In the barbaric act , he slit the throats of the men knelt before him before cutting off their heads.

Their heads are then placed on top of their bodies in the middle of the road in Nineveh Province, Iraq.

The sickening video was apparently made to warn Kurdish forces, as it threatens ‘you will not be able to hold off the Islamic State’.

At one point in the clip, bystanders watch and cars drive by as the horrific act is carried out.

I don’t know the outcome of if, how and when ISIS will be defeated but one thing I do know is this… I am sick to death of hearing our politicians telling us to ‘carry on as normal’.  It is not them that are grieving today because some lunatics run amok in Paris and killed innocent people, or families just coming to terms with the loss of loved ones and those injured in the Brussels attacks.  Or those people who daily live in fear  because they are under the rule of ISIS.

But by tearing up the rule book of the Geneva Convention whilst fighting the likes of ISIS, does it make us as barbaric as them?  Or are we just too scared to say ‘If you abide by the Geneva Convention so will we, but the moment you breach it ..the gloves are off’?

Freedom of Speech

freedom of speechVersus the Freedom to Live? In light of what has happened in Paris with the attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices and now the threats of death due to the magazine using another satirical image of the Prophet Mohammed in defiance of the attacks…  I think I value my Freedom to Live more than my Freedom of Speech.  Because we don’t live in a safe world any more.  We don’t feel safe when we visit cities and use public transport.

To cave in to terrorists, I agree is the worst thing we can do, and we shouldn’t keep off of our streets or be holed up in some bunker praying that some extremist doesn’t enter our private world and kill us. BUT…. is Freedom of Speech really worth someone’s life.

What I write on the internet, I have the courage to say to a person’s face.  If any comments I make are deemed to be offensive well deal with it… but if that offensive remark is criminal or breaks a law… then I should be held accountable.

So people are screaming up and down, that the Snooper’s Charter that Governments want to bring in will invade our Freedom of Speech… but seriously how I look on it… if someone is making plans to harm another person and those plans are being are orchestrated on the internet…. then I am all for GCHQ stepping in and thwarting those plans.

Well if you want to keep things private, in the real world the only way you will keep things that private is not to tell a soul… and the same applies on the internet…  I don’t often agree with ‘Dishface’ Cameron, but on this occasion I wholeheartedly agree, with him saying that Security Agencies need to have access to encrypted data in order to stop any future terrorist attack.

Cameron said:

We shouldn’t leave a safe space in which terrorists can communicate with each other.

“There is a broad agreement that we need to have powers, in extremis, to intercept communications between terrorists. That is what America does today. It is what Britain does today.

“We face the same challenge in Britain and in America.

“We are free countries, free societies where we don’t want to interfere with the privacy and civil liberties of our citizens but, in extremis, it has always been necessary, after going through the proper processes, to make sure that if terrorists are talking to each other or communicating with each other and are about to commit an outrage, it’s always been necessary to try and intercept that and try to stop those bombs, those attacks, those murders taking place.”

Of course we want our banking details to remain safe, if we do on-line banking and we want our card details kept secure on shopping sites, and that means we need encryption. But seriously, do we need encryption on social media sites… surely if online purchases are made on social media sites that would not warrant encrypted data,  in order to keep card details secured, the site could refer you directly to your bank or card verification service to enter your card details for you to enter your card details.

I am sick of hearing that it is a violation of our democracy to stop social media sites from having encrypted data…. I can live with GCHQ reading every Twitter and Facebook message I make… in fact they would be bloody bored stiff reading my private messages on Facebook and DM’s on Twitter.

Last night in Belgium the Police intercepted a terrorist cell that were prepared to cause death and carnage on the streets of Belgium.  They had planned to kill Police Officers and their plans have been thwarted this time… how many more cells are there just like that one?  How close are they to our own shores?  Sorry but to me a small sacrifice of Freedom of Speech, by knowing full well that every thing I do on-line could be intercepted by security services, is a small price I am willing to pay, in order to keep me and my family safe.

And please don’t try to tell me it is scaremongering by our Governments to make us fear terrorists, because it is not… it is the scenes on the streets of Paris and Belgium, the barbaric acts of ISIS, the murder of hostages, the cold blooded murder of Lee Rigby by Islamic extremists… that brings the true facts of terrorism to our minds and to our doors.

No we can’t run scared but we can do all we can to prevent another person losing their life to some moron running amok on our streets with a machete or AK47 saying it is being done in the name of ‘Allah’ and this is part of a Jihad war to destroy the infidels who do not believe in the Islamic faith.

What have we created?

Silhouette of soldierTurning on the news today, just turns your stomach. The vast majority of us take satire for granted… Workers of a magazine, based in France, which attacks not just the Islamic faith, but the Catholic, Jewish and every faith going, including the Christian faith, today have become the victims of Jihadist terrorists.  Policemen, who are doing a job, are murdered in cold-blood.  And the cold stark reality of what terrorism is once again putting fear in all of us.

Yes mocking someone’s faith is not a nice thing, but the vast majority of us just ignore these magazines, we won’t allow the makers of these magazines to profit, by buying them or reading them… instead we show our disdain by leaving the copies on the shelf. Some of us see these magazines just for what they are… satire. But do these people who work for these magazines deserve to die?

Of course not… bloody terrorists have once again caused at least 12 families to mourn the death of their loved ones and many more families, colleagues and friends now having to live with the tragedy of what has happened and deal with the aftermath of this barbaric maiming and killing.

Should our freedom of speech be denied?  Of course not… terrorists have no right to kill or maim people in the name of Islam.  Even if they do find the mocking of their faith offensive.  Daily the Christian faith is mocked… daily the Pope is mocked and parody accounts on Twitter and Facebook are created.  But do we take to arms in order to voice our disgust? NO.

Today’s killings have struck a fear through newspapers up and down the land, from country to country… they stand in solidarity with the victims and journalists of the Charlie Hebdo Magazine who work in those offices, but they not showing the images that this magazine produces. And they are not showing them due to fear of reprisals.

But who are really to blame, for this distaste of Western life amongst extremists?  Is it the West’s Foreign Policy?  Is it the way that the West has armed and trained countries where terrorists are welcome with open arms? Is it the CIA for training others in weapons?  Is it because we have armed other nations so that they could do our dirty work?  Is it us for relying too much on oil?  Is it the way that policy-makers, over the decades, have used certain factions of another countries population to achieve their goals and then abandoned that population?

Have we caused so much animosity amongst Muslims, that some of them become radicalised so much that they are prepared to lay down their lives for what they believe is right?  Have we the West created the monster with our Policies and greed for oil?

And if it is just one of those things, what have we created?  Yes there is a war on terror, and you can keep cutting the head of the snake but the truth is, that for every snake you slay, two more will appear.  And yes, you can keep bombing and maiming civilians and class them as collateral damage, because you are really after the bad guys.  But in reality we are creating more people to hate what are policy makers are making our troops do.

We can’t give in to terrorism, but neither can we go on as we are…. something, somewhere has to give… and someone really does need to see how our Foreign Policy of not just now but from decades ago, is now harming us.  Extremism has to be eliminated but sometimes the bomb and the bullet will only exasperate the matter.  It will take a brave man or woman, a brave politician to tackle this head on… and I don’t think one has been born yet that is brave enough to say ‘We are partly to blame for what is happening in our world today and today is the day that we are going to put things right’… and in true Miss World fashion, work towards ‘ World Peace’.

As much as each of us wants peace on this earth, tyrants will remain and dictators will rule… the world is not a safe place any more and I personally don’t hold hope that there will be world peace in my life-time… but one day for future generations, I do hope that we can all live in harmony and be tolerant of each other and violence is a thing of the past.

But today my thoughts and prayers are sent to each and every person who today lost their life, and to all those  who have been injured in this barbaric attack on humanity.  Rest in Peace, you didn’t deserve this.

World Peace….

35_peace_on_earth_wideNot in a million years, unless the west decide to change their attitudes, their policies and sit down and totally rethink their foreign policy.

Since the 7th century, Sunnis and Shi’tes have been rowing, arguing and fighting,  and if the problems haven’t been solved in all that time, what hope do we ever have of solving it?

Over the last couple of days, reports have come in that planes have been stolen by Islamist extremists in Libya …. oh weren’t these people part of the rebels that we were thinking of arming at one stage?

Well I for one, didn’t need an Etonian education to tell me that by arming rebels that are fighting dictators, there is a very high chance that these rebels will be infiltrated by Islamic extremists and any arms given to them could fall into the hands of terrorists.

planes libyaAnd what have we seen happen? Yes you guessed it, Islamist extremists in both Iraq and Libya have now got weapons of mass destruction.  In Iraq they gathered weapons from an army who ran away and left behind their military machinery for extremists to take.

And in Libya planes have now been stolen, by extremists.  Planes that could be used to attack us just like they did on September 11th 2001.

Bullets, bombings and drone attacks will NOT bring peace to this earth, and the way we are alienating  Russia at the moment, just think what could happen, if they decided to side with the Islamic extremists like, ISIS?  It doesn’t bear thinking about.

But what astounds me is the double standards of David Cameron, when speaking about little Ashya King and what was happening to his parents in Spain, Dishface said:

“Watching the pictures of him brought back memories of my desperately ill young boy, Ivan, and I remember him endlessly sitting on my lap and having to feed him through a tube and having to deal with all of the difficulties of having a desperately ill child, but you know, the government mustn’t tell the police how to act or what to do, nor can we interfere in processes in other countries.
The Telegraph

‘Nor can we interfere in processes in other countries…’,  really?  Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria… anyone!!!

I don’t know about you, but somehow it seems to me the world was whole lot safer before we took the likes of Gaddafi and Saddam out of the picture.  Since the west toppled these regimes, we have created nothing but unrest, bloodbaths and power vacuums in countries, which now have extremists ruling the roost.  All because of a dodgy dossier and Tony Blair cosying up to Bush….

Two men who in my opinion, should be charged with bloody war crimes.  Perhaps if we did, do the honourable thing and made these men be held accountable for their actions, peace just might be restored.  Haven’t we learnt over centuries, that war, bombs and bullets do NOT bring peace.

I am afraid to say, what is happening in our world is now scary, not just with the threats of Islamic extremists, but with the wackos that walk around our streets.  Only yesterday an 82 year old woman, who survived WWII, had her life ended by a barbaric wacko, who was rampaging the streets of Edmonton, killing cats before beheading this poor mother and grandmother.  And last night in Islington, another mad-man who broke in a house and threatened a woman with a knife.  This time though, he was shot dead by Police.

And as for our homeland security…. sorry if this offends, but if you carry a knife or gun… then be prepared to be shot and killed.  And as for allowing those that have gone off and fought the Jihad war – that they thought was right and their moral duty to do –  back into our country all I can say is,  take their bloody passports away and don’t let them back in… You can lock them up for life as far as I’m concerned, because I wouldn’t trust anybody that could be so easily swayed into thinking such barbaric ways or justified. And these people  definitely don’t have a place in our society.

Hydrogen car

And here is one suggestion, instead of making bombs and bullets to try to solve the world’s problems, how about investing that money into research and development of Hydrogen Powered Cars or H2O powered cars or by putting solar panels on houses for free?… Instead of being self-reliant on oil, which we need the East for, how about investing and using  resources that surround us…. bloody water?

Rant over…

Woolwich Attack

TIncident-in-Woolwich-1904588oday blood returned to our streets, with the killing of a man in Woolwich.. at the moment there is no confirmation either way as to whether the young man killed was a soldier or not.  Tonight a mum has lost her son and a family are trying to come to terms with what has happened.

As much as we all love 24 hour rolling news.. I think now is the time for the news channels not to keep streaming the video of this murderer and the killer’s chilling words. The person who has lost their life has a family and they don’t need this kind of media coverage.. As despicable as this attack is and we all agree it was horrendous and barbaric, I do think it is time now to show some respect to the family. Continue reading Woolwich Attack
